Does anyone else have little girls that like to play with dolls? Does anyone one need a fun Christmas or birthday gift to make up for your children or grandchildren? Or does anyone just like to make up crochet items in miniature? This pattern was a lot of fun to design, and I think most people will enjoy making up this little outfit!
18 inch dolls dressed up in winter outfits!
Both of my girls have 18 inch dolls, but don’t play with them as much as I thought they might…. But I wondered if they would like a little winter set so their dolls would be ready for the cold! They really liked the little hat I made… and then wanted mittens, boots, etc. so the set kept getting larger…
This pattern makes 5 different articles of clothing for an 18 inch doll. My girls have 2 different styles of dolls, and the clothes work for both of them. Some of the items, such as the fingerless gloves do take a bit of work to put on the dolls…. But yarn tends to stretch our as it is used. So, better to be tight now, and just right after playing with them for a while!
I started by making a hat for their dolls – it was pretty fast to make, and turned out really cute! It can be made in many different colours, and works for a girl doll or a boy doll. If you are interested in the pattern for the child’s hat to match, it can be found here.
My girls thought boots and mittens were important for cold weather, so that is what I worked on next. They are simple to make, but do take some time. And the color combinations are endless! I like the boots and mittens edged in a contrasting colour, but they are pretty in a solid color too.
Boots and fingerless gloves
And of course, a sweater and skirt were needed too! The sweater is a poncho style that is rather popular right now. The buttons on the side are just for decoration, but snaps could likely be used to keep the edges together as well. The skirt is a simple pull on style.
Finished winter outfit – sweater, skirt, hat, boots, fingerless gloves
All put together, it makes a pretty sweet outfit for a doll! My girls were pretty happy with them!
